Delberta Kulseth, 86, of Bowman, ND, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at her home in Bowman.

Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bowman Lutheran Church. Pastor Renee Johnson will officiate with burial to follow in the Bowman Cemetery. There will be a Family and Friends Service on Monday, March 4, 2019 at the Krebsbach and Kulseth Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Delberta Mae Kulseth was born August 6, 1932 in Bowman, ND to Delbert (“Chub”) and Florence (Nelson) Bagley, growing up with brothers Floyd and Mel. She attended Bowman Public Schools for twelve years, graduating from high school in 1950 and gathering many lifelong friends along the way. Fate played a role in her life when, two years before she graduated, a young man came into her father’s radiator shop and—as they say—the rest was history. Delberta and that young man, Russell Kulseth, were married two years later. Their wonderful, loving relationship lasted for over 70 years. Russell and Delberta were blessed with three children: LaVern, Juanita, and Bruce.

During their 68+ years of marriage, Russel and Delberta led a very fulfilling and happy life. They enjoyed dancing very much, and would often be the only ones on the dance floor as people watched them Schottische. They instilled a love of music and dance in all three of their children. Over the years they were also able to spend a lot of precious time together traveling. Their travels took them to over 40 states including Alaska and Hawaii, as well as Canada and Puerto Rico.

Delberta worked as a bookkeeper for the Bowman Cenex station for an amazing 51+ years. Delberta was involved in many activities outside of work. After retiring from Cenex, she could not just “take it easy,” and life only seemed to get busier as she added to her long list of civic and community involvement.

She timed or secretaried many rodeos over the decades, and served as Secretary for both the Slope Summer Circuit and the North Dakota State High School Rodeo Association. Her friendly, familiar face welcomed many kids returning to the NDHSRA finals in Bowman year after year.

Delberta’s faith in God led to a very active church life at Bowman Lutheran where she could always be counted on to volunteer anytime she could be of help. She was very active in community service. She served as an election judge; worked at the visitor’s center known as “The Hut;” served with the Bowman Ladies’ Auxiliary; worked at the Bowman Auction Market cafe; and spent many years as the secretary/bookkeeper for Little Missouri ARC (Able-Cedar Chest), not giving up that responsibility until a week before her passing.

One thing that could always be said of Delberta is that she always put the thought and care of others first. There is no doubt though, that even with all that Delberta was involved in, her greatest love and dedication in life was to her family. In later years her greatest joy came when she visited any of her 13 great-grandchildren or they would visit her.

This amazing woman will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. However, we find comfort in knowing she is now at peace with a perfect body and is waiting until we can be together again.

Delberta will be greatly missed by her husband Russell and children LaVern Kulseth, Juanita (Jamie) Byrne, and Bruce (Sonni) Kulseth. Also blessed for being able to share her life are LaVern’s family: Shannon (Eric) Iversen and children Rylee, Serena, Tyler and Jackson, and Kellie (Nick) Barker and children Harper and Tipper; Juanita’s family: Mindy (Greg) Yates and children Adlen, Ayla, Sasha and Tanner, and Kristi (Kyle) Sander and children Amelia and Wayne; and Bruce’sfamily: CeJae and his daughter Jayden, as well as her brother Mel (Meredythe) Bagley, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Chub and FlorenceBagley, father and mother in-law Joe and Ruth Kulseth, brother Floyd, grandchildren Stevie Beth Kulseth & Justis Alex Kulseth, brother-in-law Milton Koch, nieces Cindy Bagley and JodellGleason, and great-nephew Tanner Bagley.
